2020

Well what is there to say about 2020?

Due to COVID-19 unfortunately all community events have been cancelled and communal facilities closed for the time being.

Fortunately we have been allowed to visit our plots through lockdown and to help with the feeling of community a fellow plotholder decided to have a fundraising plant sale, all socially distanced of course with COVID-19 measures put in place. It was a great opportunity for plotters to donate excess plants, strawberry runners, seeds and cuttings as well as having the opportunity on the day of the sale to make donations for items they wished.

Another good news story is a poem entitled 'An Ode to the Allotment Association' written by Margaret McGregor. The poem was also sent to Keep Scotland Beautiful, It's Your Neighbourhood and was enjoyed so much that it was added to their official page for Slopefield Allotments. Please scroll down the page to the Related Documents section where you will find the poem and a few others too Slopefield Allotment Association | It's Your Neighbourhood (keepscotlandbeautiful.org)

Slopefield Allotments also participated in TAMS Aberdeen (theallotmentmarketstall.org.uk) and every week through the growing season a grand collection of excess fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers were donated to this project to be sold at their market stalls throughout the city.

Pre COVID-19

As the start of the growing season approaches plotters are reminded of the facilities that are on site for communal use. There is a community greenhouse and community polytunnel for all plotters to use. There is also a community toolshed.

The Allotment Association secured funds to purchase a new noticeboard and this is situated at the bottom car park next to the swap area.
